Roger Fededer: When does Federer play Alexandr Dolgopolov in the Shanghai Masters? Roger Federer is the second seed in the Shanghai Masters and faces Dolgopolov in the last-16. Federer has already enjoyed his time in the Far East, having had a holiday in Japan before heading to China. The Swiss tennis legend beat Argentina’s Diego Schwartzman in the previous round 7-6 6-4 to progress in Shanghai. He is the heavy favourite to beat Dolgopolov and move into the quarter-finals, where he would face either Gilles Simon or Richard Gasquet. When does Roger Federer face Alexandr Dolgopolov? Federer and Dolgopolov will face off on Thursday afternoon in one of the latest matches of the day. Federer v Dolgopolov is scheduled to start at 8pm Shanghai time, after Rafael Nadal’s match with Fabio Fognini on the Stadium court. That is 1pm UK time. Federer boasts a W4 L0 record against Ukranian Dolgopolov. The pair first met in Basel on the hard court in 2010, where Federer moved 6-4 5-2 ahead before Dolgopolov retired. Last year Federer dispatched Thursday’s opponent in three sets at the Australian Open.

They in at Wimbledon this summer but Dolgopolov retired early in the match. Discussing his title chances in Shanghai, Federer said: Im playing mostly, you know, only the big tournaments now, so you need to be really tip-top shape and ready to go, and its just not so simple, said Federer on adding to his title haul. I couldnt be happier with the season, to be quite honest. Im relieved that Im feeling better since the American summer, you know, and Canada. β€œJust happy being here now and hopefully, to play a good season. It would be nice to pick up one more title, maybe a couple more, would be nice, and then get into training and start again next year and then get more chances next year..

Federer has won all four of their meetings for far but insists it won’t be a walkover today. β€œI know Dolgopolov very well,” Federer said after his win over Schwartzman.  β€œWe practised in Dubai a tonne the past few years so he’s a good guy. He’s always got good energy and he always shows it on the court. β€œHe’s had some issues with his injuries lately, like at Wimbledon he retired against me but I think this court is perfect for him, you know.  β€œThe slider on his serve must work very well here and then he returns very fast and deep.  β€œSo it’ll be a tough test for me.”..
