JURGEN KLOPP admits Mohamed Salah is an early injury doubt for the New Year’s Day trip to Burnley. Salah was the star of the show again for Liverpool as his double inspired the Kop club to a win over Leicester yesterday. The Egpyptian struck twice to cancel out a Jamie Vardy opener and earn thre more points for his side. But he could be missing for the trip to Turf Moor tomorrow. Klopp said after the Leicester win: “He wants to score all the time, so that’s good. Unfortunately in one sprint I saw him limping afterwards and we tried to change him as soon as possible. “We’ll check it out, of course it’s not too good.” Salah could sit out the Merseyside derby FA Cup clash between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park on January 5 if his injury doesn’t improve.
Klopp will be eager to have him back for the club’s second Premier League match of 2018 – the visit of Manchester City to Anfield on January 14. Salah’s team-mate Andrew Robertson is a big fan. “He’s been different class this season,” the left-back said on Match of the Day. “The amout of goals he’s scored has scored, his contribution, his work-rate for the team. “When a chance falls to him everyone is confident he’ll take it.”.
